i februar 2023.
inkludert USA. Men Dina Norlund hadde mange andre tegneserier liggende -
speidergruppe.
Carl Barks' historier om Hakkespettene kan deles opp i to perioder;
The true story of beloved Cambodian singer Ros Serey Sothea, whose
“Golden Voice” helped define Cambodia’s Golden Age of music until her
mysterious disappearance in the killing fields of Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge.
Developed in partnership with Sothea’s family.
There is a saying in Cambodia: Music is the soul of a nation. Perhaps no
one embodied that spirit more than Ros Serey Sothea, a young woman who
would forever change the landscape of Cambodian music as the Queen with the
Golden Voice.
From a humble rice farmer to nationally recognized singer, Sothea’s
success captured the hearts of the Khmer people. Throughout her career, she
recorded over 500 songs, her signature angelic voice soaring over genres
from traditional ballads to psychedelic rock and beyond.
As the Cambodian civil war raged, Sothea's singing career continued to
flourish, even when she served in the army as one of the country's first
female paratroopers. After years of bloody conflict, the communist Khmer
Rouge seized control, murdering artists and destroying their music,
bringing Cambodia's golden age into a dark era of silence. Sothea’s fate
is unknown.
Ros Serey Sothea's golden voice lives on in the popular music of Cambodia
to this very day. Gone but not forgotten, her legacy continues to
inspire. The Golden Voice tells the story of Sothea’s life,
developed alongside the surviving family who knew her, and accompanied by
an interactive soundtrack.
Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland are no different than most boys. They
love adventure, games, and spending time outdoors. They’re curious about
girls, curious about life, and particularly curious when it comes to
mysteries. You see, Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland happen to be two of the
best detectives in England.
Note that we didn’t say living in England. That’s because
Edwin and Charles aren’t living in England. In fact, they’re not living
at all.

What is our relationship with physical and emotional environments? How do we react to and live in the world around us? This book explores the dimensions of how geography affects the psyche, from the known to the unknown. In colorful, gorgeous pen-and-ink illustrations, the transformation of landscapes from immediate and personal to fantastical and nostalgic captures the sense of place. Viewing each image creates your own personal experience of space. Starting with more immediate spaces and ending with faraway planets, this book is an emotional, creative journey.
Immediately following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022,
Nora Krug connected with two anonymous subjects - 'K.', a Ukrainian
journalist, and 'D.', a Russian artist - and began what would become a year
of correspondence. Deeply moved by the rawness of their responses, she felt
that through the personal accounts of these individuals who, directly and
indirectly, experienced the war firsthand, she might be able to communicate
something of the war and its human impact. Over the course of the next
twelve months she communicated with each of them individually via phone
chat, condensing their sometimes fluid, sometimes fragmentary answers into
a consistent narrative and then created illustrations to go with each
entry. The personal accounts contained in this book chronicle the first
year of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in an intimate, epistolary format.
Diaries of War explores the personal, the political, conflict, family
and daily life under war with immense skill, compassion and moving
thoughtfulness. Through these two individuals we see the granular effects
of war on two lives, but they are emblematic of millions. Diaries of
War is a harrowing record of a heart-wrenching historical event that
has devastated the world and continues to alter countless lives.
Appearing together in English for the first time, three politically
charged sci-fi graphic novellas by a pioneering French comics artist.
Dark, smart, and indomitably cool, the ’70s and ’80s dystopian visions
of Chantal Montellier still unsettle.
Visitors to an underground mall must recreate civilization after a nuclear
strike may have wiped out the rest of humanity. Newlyweds find themselves
implicated in a government eugenics program. A disembodied authority
reprimands a man for stepping out of view of a security camera.
In this collection of three novellas—Wonder City, Shelter,
and 1996—published together in English for the first time,
Montellier’s blend of dark humor, gripping storytelling, and consistent
focus on the perils of totalitarianism shows her to be a master of both
comics and science fiction.
Spain’s answer to Seinfeld, these observational, relatable autobio vignettes by Spanish cartoonist Paco Roca poke fun at the vexing tribulations of modern life.
At 40, cartoonist Paco Roca has finally achieved his childhood dream ― to spend all day at home in his pajamas! However, his blissful, loungewear-clad reverie is beset with a host of mundane problems: He dreads small talk with “the world’s biggest bore,” but his excuses and white lies are finally catching up with him. When good friends breaks up, taking either side could lead to social disaster. The simple mission to change his train ticket descends into an impossibly complicated, Kafkaesque affair. And worst of all, his partner keeps hanging the toilet paper roll the wrong way!
In the vein of sitcoms like Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Roca’s comic vignettes brilliantly satirize the pesky pitfalls of modern-day life. Like most of us, Roca’s alter ego just wants to be liked and to do the right thing, but finds that through crippling indecision, cowardly behavior, and the absurd machinations of the universe, he is usually thwarted. The ensuing situations he finds himself embroiled in are as hilarious as they are often painfully relatable.
A gorgeously illustrated and written debut graphic memoir
about belonging, identity, and making a home in the remote American
West, by New Yorker cartoonist Navied Mahdavian.
Before Navied Mahdavian moved with his wife and dog in November of 2016
from San Francisco to an off-the-grid cabin in rural Idaho, he had never
fished, gardened, hiked, hunted, or lived in a snowy place. But there, he
could own land, realize his dream of being an artist, and start a
family—the Millennial dream. Over the next three
years, Mahdavian leaned into the wonders of the natural Idaho
landscape and found himself adjusting to and enjoying a slower pace of
living. But beyond the boundaries of his six acres, he was confronted with
the realities of America’s political shifts and forced to confront the
question: Do I belong here?
Mahdavian’s beautifully written and unflinchingly honest graphic memoir
charts his growth and struggles as an artist, citizen, and new father. It
celebrates his love of place and honors the relationships he makes in rural
America, touching on dynamics like culture, environment, and identity in
America, and even articulating difficult moments of racism and brutality he
found there as a Middle Eastern American. With wit, compassion, and a sense
of humor, Mahdavian’s insider perspective offers a unique portrait
of one of the most remote and wild areas of the American West.
Constance, a modern, young illustrator, takes revenge for the thousands of attacks suffered daily by women with a comic of her own, titled The Amazing Camel Toe, celebrating the adventures of an anti-macho vigilante in tight, panther leggings: A hero who battles against sexism, harassment, slut-shaming, and unrealistic standards of beauty. A form of release that could materialize in a publishing deal for Constance… But in order for that to happen, the author, often full of doubt, must dare to assert herself more. Luckily, she’s supported by her gang of girlfriends, her boyfriend, her favorite band, and not to mention Camel Toe herself: who says this comic-book bombshell can’t exist in real life?
Gently provocative, cheerfully fierce, and borderline punk, Claire Duplan has a style and a tone all her own, overflowing with humor and energy.
